SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) serves at the pleasure of the Management Committee, and reports directly to the President and Management Committee. His or her job, either directly or through subordinates, where available, is to:
· Oversee and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the firm’s finances, staff, technology and facilities;
· Attend and participate in all director, committee and Management Committee meetings;
· Assure that the members of the firm’s management are furnished with timely and accurate information and resources necessary to support all strategic and operating functions, taking full part in the discussion, decision-making, and execution of strategic initiatives;
· Assure that every lawyer has an appropriate level of staff, information technology and other support to develop and enhance the practice of the firm effectively and efficiently; and
· Ensure that the firm’s policies and procedures are implemented and followed by all attorneys and staff, including directors, and where appropriate, make suggested changes or additions to such policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Candidates are expected to have excellent leadership skills and a strong business background. Experience managing professional corporations preferred. Business lawyers encouraged to apply.
